Practical guidance to help manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers and certificate holders understand certification scope, evidence and ongoing responsibilities.
Three different forms of evidence
A test report records results for the particular sample tested under the stated conditions and at a particular time. An inspection report records findings for the particular products, site or process examined within its defined scope and assessment period. Unless supported by an ongoing conformity-assessment program, neither report alone provides continuing assurance that future production will remain conforming.
PAS-Mark product certification provides broader ongoing assurance. CSi evaluates conformity evidence against defined scheme requirements, makes an independent certification decision, assesses manufacturing controls and requires continuing surveillance to maintain certification.
For demonstrating the ongoing conformity of production, PAS-Mark therefore provides a broader and more sustained level of assurance than a standalone test or inspection report. The evidence required for a particular application must still be determined from the applicable legislation, building code, standard, specification or contract.
