Frequently asked questions

Understand the application, evidence, certification and ongoing responsibilities that commonly affect CSi clients.

Certification essentials

Know what to expect.

These answers provide general guidance. The applicable standard, scheme rules, contract and approved certification scope remain authoritative.

Does an enquiry guarantee that CSi can certify my product or organisation?

No. CSi first reviews the requested service, intended scope, applicable requirements and its ability to perform the work. Certification is granted only after the required evaluation has been completed and an independent certification decision is positive.

What should I provide with my first enquiry?

Identify the legal applicant, product or organisational scope, intended market, applicable standard if known, manufacturing or operating locations, and any existing test reports or certification information. CSi will advise what else is needed.

Can CSi use test reports I already have?

Existing reports can be reviewed for relevance, completeness, laboratory recognition, the standard and edition used, and whether the tested samples represent the proposed certified product. Acceptance is not automatic and further testing may be required.

How long does certification take?

Timing depends on application completeness, product complexity, testing, readiness, site availability, corrective actions and the applicable scheme. CSi can provide a more useful programme after reviewing the proposed scope and available evidence.

Can I use a certification mark as soon as I apply?

No. Certification marks may be used only after certification has been granted and in accordance with the applicable controlled mark-use requirements and authorised artwork supplied by CSi.

What happens if my certified product or organisation changes?

Contact CSi before representing the changed product, site, process, ownership, scope or management system as certified. CSi will determine whether document review, evaluation, testing, audit or a new certification decision is required.

Where can I check a CSi certificate?

Search the official JASANZ Register using the available certificate or licence information. If the record is not listed, contact CSi and include a complete copy or the relevant licence details.

Does certification remove my legal or project responsibilities?

No. Certification provides evidence within its defined scope. Manufacturers, suppliers, designers, installers, approval authorities and other responsible parties must still address applicable laws, project requirements, installation, intended use and certificate conditions.
